PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Designed as a majestic ship breaking through a large rolling wave, the Georgia Aquarium sits on a nine and a half acre site in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. With a total water volume of over eight million gallons, it is the largest Aquarium in the world. Fanning out from the building’s huge atrium are five galleries that uniquely represent different aquatic habitats. Among the wildlife that can be seen at the Aquarium are Beluga Whales and the largest marine animal in captivity, the Whale Shark.
The project, with its two hundred million dollar budget, presented the designers with a multitude of structural challenges. Uzun & Case has earned numerous awards in recognition of its excellence for its part in meeting those challenges. In response to record-breaking attendance at this unique and exciting structure, the Georgia Aquarium is now in the process of building expansion and improvements. |
