PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Hailed by South Carolina State Senator Yancey McGill as “the single most important project for the region for the next 10 to 15 years”, the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMT) provides sophisticated and specialized training for manufacturers in the Southeast region. The Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) of SIMT is the first structure completed in a three-phased building project which will be located within the 146 acre campus.
The key focus of the AMC is to provide training through simulation facilities that will link engineering to manufacturing technology. The two-story, 177,000SF structure is composed of pre-fabricated structural steel. The exterior skin is comprised of ACM metal panels and a brick and glass curtain wall. The facility is topped with a floating standing seam metal roof.
An additional exterior detail is the 20,000 gallon water feature cut from stainless steel and designed to resemble the State of South Carolina.
This highly crafted feature is found at the facilities entrance and it contains fire, misting steam and granite spheres which represent the largest cities in South Carolina.
